AAOMS is offering a complimentary live webinar at 6 p.m. CDT on June 21 to help OMS members reach the eight-hour training requirement of the Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act. The 90-minute webinar – which appears to fulfill 1.5 hours of the eight-hour requirement tied to initial or renewal DEA registrations – provides training on how to treat and manage patients with opioid or other substance use disorders (SUDs), including use of drugs approved by the FDA for the treatment of a substance use disorder.
The webinar will address safe pharmacological management of dental pain and screening, brief intervention, and referral for appropriate treatment of patients with, or at risk of developing, opioid or other SUDs. The potential clinical implications of patients with SUDs also will be discussed.
This course supplements the 6.5 hours of on-demand training on the subject matter already available in AAOMS’s CE section. AAOMS is providing all virtual courses geared toward satisfaction of the MATE Act to OMS members free of charge through Dec. 31. These include:
- Dentoalveolar Plenary: Postoperative Pain Control
- Safety and Dignity Front and Center: The Opioid Epidemic in the Time of COVID-19
- The Prescription Opioid & Heroin Crisis: An Epidemic of Addiction
- The Heroin Epidemic: Prescription Drug Abuse and Your OMS Practice
- IV Sedation of the Substance Abuse Patient
