Key public health leader confirmed by Senate

The Senate confirmed the nomination of Erica Schwartz, MD, JD, MPH, to serve as CDC director. Schwartz, a physician and attorney who previously served as deputy surgeon general during the first Trump administration and held a leadership role in the U.S. Coast Guard, will lead the CDC after the agency has been without a permanent director for nearly a year.
