The House Appropriations Committee advanced its Fiscal Year 2027 Labor-HHS-Education appropriations bill. It is currently awaiting floor action. The bill would provide $110.8 billion for HHS, $4 billion below FY 2026 allocations. The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) would receive $8.3 billion, including continued support for oral health workforce training, pediatric dentistry, state workforce grants, oral health literacy and efforts to integrate oral health into primary care. While the measure proposes to cut $1 billion from the CDC, it would sustain funding for CDC oral health programs that strengthen oral disease surveillance and support research on dental caries, fluoridation and oral-systemic health.
Notably, the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research would receive a $10 million increase from FY 2026 to support tissue regeneration, practice-based research and studies linking oral health to overall health outcomes.
