Dental coalition urges federal oral health investment

AAOMS, as part of a dental provider coalition, urged congressional appropriators to “continue to support oral health infrastructure across HHS, including critical investments in oral health workforce, research and prevention,” as part of the fiscal year (FY) 2027 appropriations process. The letter expresses concern about President Trump’s proposed FY 2027 budget for HHS, which recommends the elimination of oral health prevention and workforce programs under the CDC and the Health Resources and Services Administration, respectively, as well as caps on indirect costs for NIH grants and changes to the grant allocation process. Congress has the authority to accept, reject or alter the administration’s budget through the appropriations process.
