The AAOMS Coding Certificate Program consists of three courses: Introduction to Insurance Coding and Billing, OMS Billing Essentials: Navigating the Insurance and Reimbursement System, and OMS Coding Essentials: Medical and Dental Procedures and Diagnoses. AAOMS believes those who successfully complete the program should be recognized for their accomplishment and proficiency in OMS coding. While they do not receive certification, AAOMS members and staff who complete the program will be awarded a certificate of completion and a lapel pin. Coding Certificate Program Bundle
AAOMS offers participants the opportunity to register for the three courses that make up the Coding Certificate Program (CCP) in a single bundle. The CCP bundle includes:
- Introduction to Insurance Coding and Billing (online)
- OMS Coding Essentials: Medical and Dental Procedures and Diagnoses (online or in-person)
- OMS Billing Essentials: Navigating the Insurance and Reimbursement System (online)
The CCP bundle offers 25 CE hours and is available to AAOMS fellows/members, their professional staff and OMS residents. Once you receive confirmation of registration to an online course or the CCP bundle, you will have immediate access to the course(s) by using your AAOMS.org credentials. You will have six months to complete the online course(s). See below for answers to frequently asked questions.
Registration for the Coding Certificate Program with the September 2026 course will open in the spring.
Note: Course materials are based on the coding standards and guidance for the year of registration (i.e., 2026). Access to the course is limited to six months from your registration date and does not include updates or revisions released after Dec. 31 of that year. If your access period extends into the following calendar year, course content will remain aligned with the prior year’s coding standards
