AAOMS endorses the following simulation programs – through Aug. 1, 2025 – as equivalent alternatives to the AAOMS National Simulation Program. Completion of any one of these equivalent courses – or the AAOMS Office-Based Emergency Airway Management (OBEAM) module – satisfies the necessary simulation training to maintain AAOMS membership.
- ADSA Simulation Course
- Dental Simulation Specialists
- Oral Surgeons’ Airway Simulation and Medical Emergencies Course by Emergency Medical Consultants
- Ohio Dental Society of Anesthesiology: Advanced Airway and Emergency Airway Management
- Rutgers School of Dental Medicine: Office-Based Emergency Airway Management: A Simulation Course
- U.S. Army: Office Based Emergency Airway Management Course
Course accessible to surgeons in the Department of Defense only
Location: Andersen Simulation Center, Joint Base Lewis McChord, Wash.

Verification of compliance of successful anesthesia simulation training should be completed through the Office Anesthesia Evaluation (OAE) program.
AAOMS now offers its didactic curriculum to support non-AAOMS hands-on simulation training. Programs lacking a didactic instruction component can recommend that participants purchase the AAOMS-developed material to ensure adherence of the simulation training needed for AAOMS membership.
Note: AAOMS members must complete both the didactic instruction and an AAOMS-endorsed hands-on simulation equivalency program to fulfill AAOMS membership. Participants registering for AAOMS’s OBEAM module should not purchase this separate didactic curriculum, as it is already integrated into the AAOMS program.
