Oral Abstracts and Posters

AAOMS accepts applications for oral abstracts and posters for presentation at each Annual Meeting.

Oral abstract presentations are six- to seven-minute lectures on research delivered in an electronic format followed by a brief question-and-answer period. Posters are submitted electronically and are viewable online and on a poster board at the meeting.

Resident Scientific Presentation Award

Resident Scientific Presentation Awards are given every year to oral and maxillofacial surgery residents selected on the basis of the scientific quality of manuscripts submitted for judging. Abstracts of the award-winning manuscripts will be presented at the annual meeting of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Resident Research Award Applications are now part of the online submission process. To begin, select the Oral Abstract and Resident Research Award option within the application.

WOMENS Leadership Initiative

The WOMENS LEADERSHIP INITIATIVE has been launched to empower future female OMS leaders and increase the pool of OMS speakers. Through an online platform, the initiative aims to connect academic speakers and OMS event planners. Those interested can add their information to the searchable, protected database to discover speaking and mentoring opportunities. Other benefits include developing mentorships and improving skills through the Speaker Training Program.

Registration and more information are available at OMSWLI.com. The independent, complimentary database aims to increase the number of female OMS speakers, but the database and related programs are not limited by gender.

Note: The WOMENS LEADERSHIP INITIATIVE is not an AAOMS speaking opportunity – AAOMS supports the initiative but does not facilitate it. Osteo Science Foundation maintains the database, and professionals interested in enhancing the visibility of women in oral and maxillofacial surgery organize the independent initiative, which is supported by several organizations.
