Continuing Education Manager

The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) has been a leading professional organization since 1918. We have a small 50-60 close knit staff, supporting our 9000-member specialty association through education, research, and advocacy. Average staff tenure is 11+ years. Office is open with most staff currently working 3 days per week in the office and 2 days per week working remotely. This is not a fully remote position. Must be able to reliably commute to the office 3 days per week.

Overview

The Continuing Education Manager reports to the Associate Executive Director for Continuing Education, Meeting Logistics and Exhibitions to facilitate delivery of services according to the priorities established by AAOMS Board, the Committee on Continuing Education and Professional Development, and members and that all programs are within the strategic goals of the organization.  The CE Manager also ensures that all scientific and clinical programs meet the guidelines for ADA CERP and ACCME policy and requirements.

The Manager is responsible for all AAOMS continuing education in-person and online meetings, conferences, programs, and special and joint meetings and events. This responsibility includes creating and managing the content for the materials needed to effectively conduct educational programs and working with all appropriate areas within AAOMS to produce materials in support of these programs.

The CE Manager also investigates and develops new ways to conduct educational programs to provide a variety of opportunities for AAOMS members, increase efficiency for fulfilling CE requirements and increase participation in the Association’s continuing education programs using new technologies and methodologies for teaching.

Salary Range: $80,000-$88,000 per year

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant professional experience required
  • Educational programming experience
  • Experience with education accreditation compliance such as ADA CERP and/or ACCME
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Strong management and team building skills

Key Accountabilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the scientific program for the Annual Meeting, Dental Implant Conference, Standalone courses, and online programs to include budget development and monitoring and the development and implementation of speaker management and automated continuing education credit transcript/certificate systems.
  • Manage and monitor ADA CERP/ACCME/AGD Continued Recognition of AAOMS as an accredited CE Provider, ensuring the proper protocols for continuing education are in place for the Association and all Joint Providership programs.
  • Oversee the functions and administrative aspects of the Committee on Continuing Education and Professional Development, the Subcommittee on Dental Implant Education, and additional task forces and special committees as needed.
  • Manage the administration of the Speaker and Meeting Management System
  • Manage the administration of the Learning Management System
  • Manage and develop continuing education staff to include supervising staff activities and projects, administration of performance reviews and goal setting.
  • Investigate and develop new ways to conduct educational programs to provide a variety of opportunities and increase participation in the Association’s continuing education programs using new technologies and methodologies for teaching.
  • Assists with budget development and oversight.
     

Detailed Description of Key Accountabilities

Oversee all aspects of the scientific program for the Annual Meeting, Dental Implant Conference and Preconference Courses, Standalone courses and online programs

  • Administer programs based on best practices and within budget
  • Oversee the process of Continuing Education Credits
  • Manage responses to all internal and external requests and questions regarding continuing education credit and scientific programming
  • Oversee development and implementation of online speaker management system
  • Oversee the development, implementation and integration of the learning management system

Manage and monitor compliance of ADA CERP/ACCME/AGD Continued Recognition of AAOMS as an accredited CE Provider

  • Oversee all staff requests for Continuing Education credit with the CCEPD and BOT, updating training tools and resources for proper compliance
  • Oversee compliance requirements with joint providers
  • Oversee compliance requirements with corporate partners

Oversee the functions and administrative aspects of the Committee on Continuing Education and Professional Development and Subcommittee on Dental Implant Education

  • Serve as the liaison CE staff member to CCEPD and SCDIE
  • Develop and oversee committee agendas with CE staff, Associate Executive Director and Chairperson of the CCEPD.
  • Prepare minutes from all conference calls and meetings within two weeks post event
  • Prepare CCEPD recommendations to the Board of Trustees in a timely manner
  • Follow up on all committee and board actions relating to CCEPD’s scientific programming
  • Oversee the continuing education strategic plan and the integration in educational planning with the CCEPD

Manage the administration of the Speaker and Meeting Management System

  • Conduct staff meetings every other week
  • Track and communicate projects and deadlines with internal staff, vendors and the database project coordinator
  • Oversee the development of websites for all educational events
  • Oversee the development of the mobile app alongside the webmaster
  • Manage all internal requests
  • Ensure all speaker disclosures are reported
  • Oversee collection and review of speaker presentations for the Annual Meeting and Dental Implant Conference
  • Provide timeline to staff all events within database
  • Meet as needed with the appropriate staff to facilitate the speaker management database

Manage the administration of the Learning Management System

  • Oversee all content in the LMS: webinars, CE on Demand courses
  • Manage all internal requests
  • Track and communicate projects and deadlines with internal staff and vendor
  • Oversee marketing and promotional efforts

Serve as the Division of Continuing Education and Meetings liaison with other divisions, staff task forces, etc. and report back to the Division as necessary.

  • Serve as division representative to AAOMS IT Task Force as needed.
  • Provide updates and relevant information to continuing education and speaker’s web pages as needed

Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned by the Associate Executive Director for Continuing Education, Meeting Logistics and Exhibitions.
