Virginia makes progress on virtual credit cards

Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) of Virginia is considering signing HB 2085/SB 925 into law, requiring insurers – including dental insurers – to pay claims within 40 days of receipt. The law, passed by the state general assembly, also mandates that insurers notify providers if a payment method imposes a transaction or processing fee and offer an alternative, no-fee reimbursement option. These changes aim to improve transparency and ensure providers receive full payment without unexpected deductions.
