Congress is working to address several outstanding items during a post-election lame duck session. AAOMS anticipates Congress will pass another continuing resolution to extend fiscal year 2025 appropriations beyond the current Dec. 20 deadline and into the new Congress. This move would provide Republicans – who will control the House, Senate and White House next year – with increased influence in the FY 2025 funding levels.
Meanwhile, healthcare stakeholders are still urging Congress to act before the end of the year to prevent the 2.8 percent Medicare physician payment cut scheduled for Jan. 1. AAOMS has endorsed the Medicare Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act (HR 10073), which would prevent the payment cut and provide a 1.9 percent payment update in 2025, approximately equal to one-half of the Medicare Economic Index. AAOMS has a grassroots campaign urging Congress to pass this bill before the end of the year. Please add your voice to this effort by participating in this campaign.
