The FTC on April 23 issued a final rule that bans noncompete agreements for most U.S. workers. Existing non-competes signed by senior executives before the final rule’s effective date can remain in force, while non-competes signed by workers who are not senior executives are no longer enforceable after the final rule’s effective date. Employment contracts carried over from the sale of a business are exempted from the ban. More information is available at FTC.gov.
