Congress passed, and President Trump signed legislation ending the longest federal shutdown in U.S. history. It funds most agencies at current levels through Jan. 30, with several funded through Sept. 30, and extends telehealth flexibilities through January. The bill does not extend the enhanced health insurance subsidies set to expire at the end of 2025. Senate GOP leaders committed to scheduling a vote on unspecified legislation to renew the subsidies before their Dec. 31 expiration date; however, members of both parties are working on alternative health reforms aimed at reducing healthcare costs, making the issue a key focus for Congress through year-end.
