One of AAOMS’s federal legislative priorities – the Ensuring Lasting Smiles Act (HR 1916) – passed the U.S. House of Representatives April 6 by a 310-110 vote. This bill would require health insurers (including ERISA plans) to cover medically necessary services – including dental treatments – for patients with congenital craniofacial anomalies.
AAOMS has worked for several years with a number of provider and patient groups to advocate for this important legislation and will continue to work toward passage in the Senate, where the bill has 40 bipartisan cosponsors. AAOMS members also advocated on this issue during their April 6 Day on the Hill congressional visits.
Please support OMS patients and help get the Ensuring Lasting Smiles Act (ELSA) enacted before the end of the 117th Congress by urging your U.S. Senators to support S 754 this year.
