Chief Dental Officer departs CMS

Natalia Chalmers, DDS, MHSc, PhD – who had served since 2021 as the first-ever Chief Dental Officer (CDO) at CMS – departed the Trump administration on Nov. 7. She has accepted the role of Head of Clinical Innovation at Overjet, an AI dental platform company. AAOMS, which has an excellent relationship with Dr. Chalmers, signed onto a coalition letter with other dental stakeholders to CMS Administrator Mehmet Oz, urging the agency to promptly fill the vacant CDO position and maintain the role within the Office of the Administrator.
