AAOMS submitted comments to proposed payment policies, opposing payment cuts in the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule, and supporting coverage for dental services necessary to identify, diagnose and treat oral infections for patients undergoing certain cancer therapies. AAOMS continues to advocate for coverage of medically necessary dental services furnished pre- and post-radiation for head and neck cancer patients and paymentstability under the Medicare payment system. Additionally, in response to the Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System and Ambulatory Surgical Center Payment System proposed rule, AAOMS submitted detailed guidance aimed at ensuring CMS payment policies provide appropriate facility fees for OMS access to both hospital ORs and Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs). Both comment letters are available for review at AAOMS.org/Advocacy.
