AAOMS, along with several dental provider groups, recently submitted a letter to the U.S. Department of Education in response to its request for stakeholder input on implementing student loan provisions in the recently enacted One Big Beautiful Bill Act (P.L. 119-21). In the letter, the organizations reiterated concerns about the new law’s federal student loan borrowing limits and the elimination of the Grad Plus Loan program, which previously allowed graduate students to borrow up to the full cost of education. They also urged the department to examine how these changes could affect dental education tuition, student enrollment and workforce distribution, particularly in rural areas.
