What is a classified ad?

Answer:

Classified ads are plain-text advertisements featured in each issue of AAOMS Today – the Association’s bimonthly publication. Each issue of AAOMS Today is printed and mailed to all AAOMS members and also posted online on the AAOMS member website.

Classified ads can be placed for available positions, fellowships, practices for sale or other opportunities of interest to oral and maxillofacial surgeons.

If you are interested in placing an ad online only, visit CareerLine or call at 888-884-8242.

If you are interested in placing a page display ad, contact Bob Heiman at 856-520-9632 or bob.rhmedia@comcast.net.

Who can place a classified ad?

Answer:

Anyone can place a classified ad. If you are submitting an ad on behalf of an AAOMS member, you must include the AAOMS member’s name and Member ID number on the Classified Ad Request Form.

Is my ad posted online?

Answer:

The classified section of AAOMS Today is posted online in the members-only section of AAOMS.org.

If you are interested in posting an ad to an online career platform, visit CareerLine  or call 888-884-8242.

How do I send the copy for the ad?

Answer:

All ad copy must be sent with the Classified Ad Request Form. Return the form by mail to AAOMS, Attn: Classified Ads, 9700 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., Rosemont, IL 60018; secure fax to 847-678-6279; or email AAOMS Publications (choose “Communications, Publications and Media” as Subject and add “Mary Ward” as Staff Contact).

How is my word count calculated?

Answer:

Word count includes the full text of the ad. We do not count the city or state leading the ad. If you request an AAOMS Classified Box number, your word count must include “Reply to AAOMS Classified Box ___” or something similar. Note: All ads are subject to style and grammar edits upon submission; any edit that results in a higher word count will not be charged with the exception of classified box contact information.

Why would I request an AAOMS box number?

Answer:

Those who wish to keep their ads completely confidential may request an AAOMS box number, which will be assigned by an AAOMS staff member. Any inquiries for that ad are emailed to AAOMS Publications and then forwarded to the email address provided on the request form.

Why does my ad look different from what I submitted?

Answer:

While AAOMS will not change the substance of your ad, all ads are plain-text and subject to style and grammar edits upon submission. If you notice an error in your ad text, contact AAOMS Publications (choose “Communications, Publications and Media” as Subject and add “Mary Ward” as Staff Contact).

What if I want to continue my ad in the next issue?

Answer:

All ads must be confirmed in writing on or before the deadline for each issue. Keep in mind, AAOMS Today is a printed publication, and its deadlines are two months in advance of printing and distribution. Email AAOMS Publications to continue your ad (choose “Communications, Publications and Media” as Subject and add “Mary Ward” as Staff Contact).

What if I want to run the same ad I ran in the past?

Answer:

To restart an ad that ran in a previous issue of AAOMS Today, you must submit a Classified Ad Request Form. On the form, indicate the last issue in which your ad appeared – you can check your invoices to confirm. AAOMS staff will confirm the ad text before sending it to production.

How are ads sorted in the classified section?

Answer:

Ads are sorted first by type and then alphabetically by state/region.

Ad Payments
When are payments due and will I be invoiced?

Answer:

All payments are due on the 15th of the month of the ad submission deadline. For example, if your ad appears in the May/June issue of AAOMS Today with an ad submission deadline the first week of March, you must provide payment no later than March 15. For check payments, an invoice requesting payment will be emailed to you.

Those who provide payment information on the form can expect to see a charge on their credit card around the 15th of the month of the ad submission deadline. An invoice showing $0.00 due also will be emailed to you to keep for your records.

How do I pay for my ad?

Answer:

You may pay for an ad by check or credit card. Checks should be sent to AAOMS, Attn: Classified Ads, 9700 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., Rosemont, IL 60018. Submit credit card payments via secure fax to 847-678-6279.

Can I set up recurring ad payments?

Answer:

Invoices are processed the month of the ad submission deadline. If you have previously provided a credit card, the same card will be used to pay for your ad until you provide an updated payment method.

Will I receive a receipt of payment?

Answer:

AAOMS members paying by credit card will receive a receipt of payment to the email address listed on the ad submission form. If you wish to change the email address, contact AAOMS Publications (choose “Communications, Publications and Media” as Subject and add “Mary Ward” as Staff Contact).

How long do I have to return payment?

Answer:

Payment must be made no later than the 15th of the month of the ad submission deadline. For example, if your ad runs in the May/June issue of AAOMS Today with a deadline the first week of March, you must provide payment no later than March 15. All unpaid ads will be placed on hold until payment is received.

If paying by check, return the invoice with the check so that your payment can be applied properly.

How do I update my payment information?

Answer:

If you have previously provided credit card information and wish to change the card used to pay for the ad, changes must be submitted no later than the 15th of the month of the ad submission deadline. For example, if the ad appears in the May/June issue with an ad submission deadline the first week of March, you must submit changes no later than March 15.
