Synopsis
This two-day symposium will cover a variety of contemporary topics in outpatient anesthesia topics including review of airway management, emergency preparedness including current concepts in malignant hyperthermia, and use of remifentanil/propofol infusions. A variety of clinical case presentations will be utilized in an audience response situation in order to reinforce the learning objectives.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
- Assess their current preparedness for a medical emergency while a patient is undergoing anesthesia;
- List the emergency drugs that should be kept in the office and discuss the pharmacology of each;
- Discuss the incidence, diagnosis and treatment of malignant hyperthermia;
- Discuss adjuncts to airway management in the patient with the difficult airway; and
- Discuss the anesthetic management of the geriatric patient.
